From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: red throated Grebes and American Pipits at Colonel Sam Smith Park in Toronto. Date: Thu, 23 Sep 2010 17:38:49 +0000 At ~ 3 Pm on September 21, 7 red throated grebes were identified by Joe Shannon (an occasional from Ireland). In three different plumages, they were located in the wee bay to the left as you approach the shore from the parking lot. We also had a good view of a Peregrine (?) take a swing at one on the water. There were also two American Pipits along the shoreline to the west of the point. Colonel Sam Smith Park is located at the Southern Base of Kipling Avenue in Toronto. Drive in past the student parking lot to find another parking lot. Follow the paved path to the left to find the Grebes, and to the right to find the Pipits. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
