In both of the last two years I've seen a flock of over 300 Sandhill Cranes west of Sturgeon Falls. Today there were 200+, but the location was slightly different, because the farmer has changed the crops in some of the fields.
>From Sturgeon Falls take the Cache Bay exit from highway 17 and continue to >the end of Levac Road. Turn left and continue south on the track about 40 meters south of the turn and cross the railway crossing. I think that the road is Guenette Road. In the past two years the flock has been about 1 km south of there on the east side just before one climbs through trees. Today there was a large flock immediately after the railway on the east, and there were others flying and some on the west side of the road. Those flying were going to a location that was out of sight, so I think my count of 220 is conservative. Other birds: a Palm Warbler at Sunset Point off Lakeshore in North Bay and American Pipits nere the Seniors Park on Lakeshore )or its extension). Among the sparrows, White Crowned continue to predominate, but there are a number of Savannah and Song.
