Weather: Cloudy, windy, and cold today. Winds averaged out around 8mph, but gusts got up to the 20s. It was a solid socked in cloudy day with off and on light sprinkles. Raptor Observations: As predicted movement was good early but dropped off sharply around 12pm. Winds where a little better and pushed the birds directly overhead. 1,078 individuals counted of 9 species. Non-raptor Observations: A very late flock of 8 White-rumped Sandpipers flew passed the count site today, and possibly a lone individual later in the day. This bird isn't unheard of, but most numbers are out of the state by August. Predictions: Tomorrow is supposed to be an all day rain out. The count will most likely be closed. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
