Observers: Gerald Peltier, Jim McCoy, Kevin McLaughlin, Larry Ludwicki,
                  Todd Pepper

Visitors:
A good group showed up today including Kevin McLaughlin, Jim McCoy, Larry
Ludwicki, Jerry Peltier, Todd Pepper, and David Tarcia. Beverly Wannick and
6th-graders, parents, and teachers from Lakeshore Discovery School in
Tecumseh, Ontario stopped by in the afternoon to awe at the kettles of
vultures and hawks. Claude Radley and John Craft also stopped by later in
the day for a banding update.

Weather:
Mostly clear and cool in the morning, warming up to a high of 20C in the
afternoon. Winds were light N 8-10 km/hr.

Raptor Observations:
A great day for both diversity and numbers with all but two of the
regularly occurring raptor species tallied. Highlights were the season's
first Goshawks (juvs.) with one bird giving great eye level looks in the
early morning light. A dark morph Rough-legged Hawk was reported from the
banding station to the E of the tower but was missed for the official
count. Turkey Vultures were moving steadily throughout the day with 8,236
passing in the 1-4 pm DST hours. Also a fair number of Broad-wings,
Red-shouldereds, and Red-tails amongst the Vultures plus a good movement of
Sharp-shins.

Non-raptor Observations:
Not many today with all the hawks and vultures going over. 6059 Blue Jays,
fly-over Pine Siskin, C. Nighthawk, 4+ Cliff Swallows, and 6+ Chimney
Swifts.

Predictions:
Partly cloudy with a 40% chance of showers early in the morning and then
clearing late in the afternoon. Wind N 20 km/hr with a high of 18C. Should
be a great flight if the morning rain holds off, and at the very least a
decent clean-up flight from today.
