Ontbirders represent!!
I hope your fall birding is all you have wanted it to be and more!
I just had a LINCOLN'S SPARROW in Highland Woods, in south London. This species
isn't too often seen in these parts and this is my latest fall date for this
species so it is a notable sighting.
The area where I saw the bird can be accessed by walking in off Commissioner's
Road. From Wharncliffe and Commissioner's intersection, travel east on
Commissioner's road about half a block. To your right is a small plaza which
has parking. Park here and walk east past the appartment building on your right
and look for the trail on this side.
The bird was spotted to the right of the trail, just as the path heads uphills.
Look for it in the ravine edge with a swampy area with some cat tails. I've
also seen these guys on the open area which this path leads to as well.
Other birds for the day were WINTER WREN, SONG SPARROW, TURKEY VULTURE, both
KINGLETS, WHITE THROATED SPARROWS, both NUTHATCHES, NORTHERN FLICKER, and more.
Good luck and send me your sighting if you do spot anything interesting.
Thanks. Safe and happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating.
Len Manning
