Observers: Dan Loncke, Jim McCoy

Visitors:
A few today including Jim McCoy, Dan Loncke, Steve Winiarski, and Ann
Brokelman and Jen Howard visiting from Rosetta McClain Hawkwatch in
Toronto.

Weather:
Partly cloudy and cool (High 19C) with NW winds 10-14 km/hr.

Raptor Observations:
Fewer raptors than expected, although things picked up mid-day with a
decent stream of Turkey Vultures, Sharp-shins, and Red-tails that quickly
tapered off in the afternoon. The highlight was an ad. Peregrine that flew
through heading north off the lake around the end of the 1 pm DST hour.

Non-raptor Observations:
Lots of Bonaparte's Gulls (45+) milling around over the lake in the
morning, along with a Forster's Tern. Shorebirds included fly-by Dunlin,
Solitary Sandpiper, and the Greater Yellowlegs (Day 10). Lots of Sparrows
around the tower with 38 White-throated, 5 White-crowned, and 6 Songs
making good use of the seed spread near the concrete blocks. Tree Swallows
were moving in the morning with 155 tallied, as well as 2 Chimney Swifts.
Blue Jay numbers have been dropping as of late with only 520 today.

Predictions:
Cloudy with a 30% chance of showers early in the morning.
Wind NW becoming N 20 km/hr in the afternoon. High of 15C. Conditions look
ideal for a good flight starting mid-morning, so hope to see you there!
