Observation start time: 10:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Rob Payne

Observers: Darlene Friedman, Jeff Schultz, Patrick Mulawa,
                  Rodney Laura

Visitors:
A very good sized crowd of hawk watchers and an artillery of optics. A lot
of eyes were on the sky today, not much was missed.

Weather:
Today was a beautiful day, with plenty of sun and low winds, kind of. The
winds were from the south west today at about 15-20mph. Our site has a nice
block of foliage to the south and west, we were comfortable but the birds
struggled.

Raptor Observations:
Slower than expected, but the reason was very apparent. Most birds were
seen flying sideways against their will. A few birds were able to push
through it 3 Golden Eagles, and 9 Northern Harriers made it look easy.
Buteos numbers were lower than the previous days with 38 Red-Tailed, 2
Red-shouldered, and 2 Rough-legged Hawks. The first Rough-legged Hawk was a
dark morph.

A total of 111 raptors were counted of 9 species.

Non-raptor Observations:
At least 150 Tundra Swans came through in the early morning. They were
re-found in the afternoon at the Cove Point area of the Metropark. Also
early in the day a pair of Long-tailed Ducks were seen, they did not like
being scoped out for long. We had a flyover Purple Finch in the early
afternoon, the first for this season.

Predictions:
We should see lots of sun and warmer temperatures, a lot like today. Winds
should be week or non-existent, and temperatures are expected to hit 60f.
This weather pattern is looking to last till Friday, and then November
comes back.
