With the balmy weather here at Moosonee -- 50+ F. -- I was hoping / expecting
some sort of reverse migrant from the south, and this was realized at about
3:00 p.m. this afternoon when I found a drab, immature type DICKCISSEL along
the waterfront on lawns.

The bird was extremely flightly, suggesting that it had just arrived. I
managed just one usable photo before I lost it.

This is a new species for the official Moosonee / Moose Factory area of
southern James Bay, but I did once have a Dickcissel in October 1981 at Fort
Albany on James Bay, which is outside the checklist area.

Full documentation will be sent to the OBRC.

Otherwise very few land birds in town. After 3 days have yet to find a single
sparrow, and the only birds considered migrants that will eventually leave
include several American Robin, one Rusty Blackbird, and numerous Snow
Buntings. Up to 3 Golden Plover still hanging around is quite remarkable for
the late date.
