Bob Pettit and Claude Radley also made brief stops in the afternoon. Weather: Partly cloudy with WSW winds 12-14 km/hr and a high of 12C. Raptor Observations: A few Red-tails on the move, in addition to 4 each of Harrier and Cooper's Hawks, 2 Sharp-shins, and singles of Turkey Vulture, Bald Eagle, and Merlin. Five (1 subad. and 4 juv.) Golden Eagles passed through during the 11:00 and 1:00 hours with one well-marked juv. giving nice looks as it passed fairly low just past the trout pond. The local Osprey also put in an appearance today over the distant NW treeline during the 10:00 hour. Non-raptor Observations: Notable today were a late fly-over E. Meadowlark in the morning along with 4 late Blue-winged Teals that flew in and landed in the marsh amongst the crowds of Pintails, Gadwalls, and Shovelers. Rusty Blackbirds continue around the tower, while two flocks totaling 11 Tundra Swans landed in the marsh for a brief period before heading SW. Predictions: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers in the afternoon. Winds WNW 15 km/hr with a high of 7C. Should be raptors on the move if the rain holds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Pawlicki ([email protected]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
