Observation start time: 10:00:00
Observation end time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 3 hours

Official Counter: Jim Dunn

Observers: Mary Carnahan

Visitors:
No visitors today.

Weather:
Very strong East winds, cloud with some sunny openings and a COLD 4C to
start then warming to 8C.

Raptor Observations:
A not too bad count considering the day....total birds was 107. For the
first time in a while we had more birds than counters (Only two counters
were onsite today) All GOLDENS were low and gave great looks. Once we had 4
in view at the same time and then later we had another 5 in view at same
time! This brings us to exactly 170 Golden Eagles for the 2010 season so
far...a solid 2nd place count to the current 1-year high count of 220 from
2008.

The push didn't last long but it was great while it lasted and brought
another 77 Redtails and a couple more Roughlegs as well.

Non-raptor Observations:
Today's non-raptor highlight was a small flock of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS that
spent the day alternately perched on the hydro wire behind us or in the
spruce trees opposite, occasionally singing a few cheery notes, perhaps to
remind us of their presence. In winters past, bluebirds could usually be
found at this location (near intersection of Roberts Line and Fairview Rd)
and we hope, will hang in again this year.
