Greetings --
I took a rewarding trip on the backroads north of Waterloo today.
Conestogo Lake yielded 1 1st-winter ICELAND GULL at the dam. The
fields in the vicinity of the lake yielded two separate flocks of
SNOW BUNTINGS, totalling approximately 300 birds.
Belwood Lake hosted a mixed flock of approximately 80 WAXWINGS, of
which at least 15 were BOHEMIANS.
DIRECTIONS:
Conestogo Lake: From Waterloo, take 85 (then 86) NW toward Listowel.
At Dorking, turn right on Wellington Rd 11, then right on Wellington
Rd 45, then left again onto Wellington Rd 11 to the dam.
Belwood Lake: Take Wellington Rd 19 NE from Fergus, then turn right
(SE) onto Wellington Rd 26. Not far past the channel, there is a
patch of fruit-bearing evergreens on your left.
