Ontbirds subscribers,
The members of the Ontario Bird Records Committee (OBRC) held a special
vote and have unanimously decided to remove Cave Swallow (Petrochelidon
fulva) from the Review List for Southern Ontario. This change to the
review list is retroactive to January 1, 2010.
Fall flights of this species into southern Ontario have become annual in
recent years and the magnitude of the 2010 fall flight was so large as to
render continued documentation of this species unnecessary and impractical
for a great many observers.
Despite this change, the OBRC still encourages observers to send any
documentation pertaining to southern Ontario occurrences of this species
after January 1, 2010 to their local records committees and/or North
American Birds sub-regional editors.
Any reports already received by the OBRC pertaining to 2010 Cave Swallows
will be archived at the Royal Ontario Museum, but will not be voted on.
Our apologies to those who may have submitted documentation up to this
point in time.
Glenn Coady
Chair, Ontario Bird Records Committee
