The final results for the Kingston CBC, held Dec. 19th, are in. We tallied 102 
species with record numbers of Mute Swan, Gadwall, Mallard, Redhead, 
Long-tailed Duck, Rough-legged Hawk, Wild Turkey, Red-bellied and Pileated 
Woodpecker, Bohemian and Cedar Waxwing, Snow Bunting and Am. Goldfinch. 
Rarities included a Pacific Loon, a Cackling Goose, 2 Harlequin Ducks, a Golden 
Eagle and a Hermit Thrush. Count week birds included Great Blue Heron, Carolina 
Wren, Brown Thrasher and Hoary Redpoll.
I do not yet have a final tally for the Napanee Count, held Dec. 27, but a few 
of the highlights were a Cackling Goose, a Trumpeter Swan, 2 Killdeer, a N. 
Flicker, a Red-winged Blackbird and Chipping, White-throated, Savannah and 2 
Swamp Sparrows.
Other noteworthy birds included the Common Loon that remained at Jones Falls 
until at least Sunday and 6 Trumpeter Swans at Bedford Mills on Wednesday. The 
was a large concentration of gulls at Bath yesterday that contained 2 Glaucous, 
1 Iceland and 20 Great Black-backed. Belted Kingfishers were reported from 
Bedford Mills, Collin's Bay and Taylor-Kidd Blvd. in the last two days. With 
the increase in redpoll numbers Hoary reports have begun to trickle in; 1 at 
Battersea on Monday and 2 more at Loughborough Lake on Tuesday.
There have been a few reports of lingering birds; 3 Brown-headed Cowbirds at 
Wilstead on Christmas Eve, 2 White-throated Sparrows at a feeder out Hwy 2 east 
on Christmas day and an Am. Robin at Bedford Mills yesterday.
