I saw a Meadowlark at 9AM this morning on Howe Island but could not
confirm Eastern Meadowlark. The Meadowlark was on the hydro line
along the main road, and flew into the field on the quarry property
close to the road. I also viewed at 4:11PM today a Great blue Heron
flying south across the St Lawrence River from Howe Island heading to
Holiday Bay on Wolfe Island (where there are also Tundra Swans).
Directions: Howe Island can be accessed via the Frontenac Country
Ferry off Hwy 2 at Joyceville Road, on County Road 22 (Howe Island
Ferry Road) east of Kingston, ON. Proceed approximately 1km on Howe
Island Drive to the quarry area located on the right. Ferry fee is $5.
