Jan. 13, 2011 Tyler Hoar, my wife and I ventured to Long Point this afternoon to see the Spotted towhee and had an excellent view along with 40 + Brown headed cowbirds, 4 Common grackles, several American treen sparrows, 2 Common redpolls, a Marsh hawk, Dark eyed junco and a Rusty blackbird. Thanks go to Mrs. Finney for allowing us to view the birds and her hospitality. Check out the excellent new book on the "Birds of Canada" by Tyler Hoar, et. al (editor) to you check off your favourite Canadian birds. Directions: >From Hwy #3 drive south on Hwy #59. When you reach the intersection of Front >Road and Hwy #59 continue south on Hwy #59 driving toward the Causeway. There >is a gas station on the northeast corn of this intersection and Neighbors >restaurant on the southeast corner. Dr. George Finney's house (where the bird >is) is on the left, or east side of the road with the fire # 1024. Proceed to >the back of the house where the lawn chairs are and wait for the bird to >appear under the Eastern white cedars.
