I hope everyone who knows me well was sitting when they received this message - I wouldn't want anyone to faint and hurt themselves from the shock that I am back on OntBirds.
Today (January 25, 2011) at approx 1540 hrs I saw a Harlequin at Ashbridges Bay Park in Toronto. I would say it was an adultĀ female bird (rather than immature since the belly was lighter than rest of bird). Also had a Hermit Thrush at Ashbridges which may be of interest to winter listers. Ashbridges Bay Park is at the foot of Coxwell Ave along the lakeshore in Toronto. From the DVP or Gardiner take the Lakeshore exit east of downtown and proceed east on Lakeshore to Coxwell. Turn south (right) and go to Ashbridges (not Woodbine Beach) parking lot. Walk south to lake. I saw the bird towards the southwest point (on your right) but as anyone who's chased a Harlequin knows they can be fickle. The Hermit Thrush was in the bushy/shrubby area with the cobble beach near the west point.
