There is a good candidate for Slaty-backed gull on the ice in Whitby harbour. Streaking on the head and neck, pink legs and about equal size to herring gulls. Could be a hybrid but it is currently one of two dark-mantled gulls in the flock and thus easy to spot.
Directions to Whitby harbour for Harlequin duck or gulls. Exit the 401 at Brock St. And head south. There is a parking lot on the right when you get to the base of Brock. Good luck Sent from my iPhone _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
