I wouldn`t normally post a Common Goldeneye but it is February and in Stratford almost everythink is frozen stiff. We have a few sections of open water along the Avon River. The largest section is in the TJ Dolan Natural Area below the sewage treatment plant. This morning I saw 2 Common Goldeneye there along with a couple of hundred Mallard and a few black ducks. Other good sightings were 2 Great Blue Heron, a Belted Kingfisher, and a Song sparrow at a feeder. Steve Thorpe Stratford The TJ Dolan Area is in SW Stratford. There is a parking lot with a map at John Street and Centre Street. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
