Hi birders, This afternoon I found a single GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in with a few hundred Canada Geese near Long Point. The geese are feeding in a flooded stream/field north of the 1st Concession (NW of Port Rowan). The previously reported GOLDEN EAGLE (immature) was seen once again soaring over the Turkey Point marshes this afternoon. There is also a dark phase Rough-legged Hawk in the same area.
Directions: The GOOSE can be found by taking Hwy 59 south to the 1st Concession. Head east on the 1st Concession until you see the flooded area on the north side of the road. The find the EAGLE at the Turkey Point marsh, either continue heading east from Port Rowan along the Front Road, or (via previous posting) follow Hwy 24 south and then west from Simcoe, then head south on Turkey Point Road (Reg. Rd 10) and then west on Front Road. The Turkey Point marsh roadside lookout is approximately 2.5km west.
