Just after 9am today, Saturday, March 12, a large gray-morph Gyrfalcon flew
east across the mouth of Cobourg harbour causing complete panic among the
gulls and waterfowl as it powered its way towards Presqu'ile.
Only 10 minutes later all the gulls were up again for a young Bald Eagle
flying east - the eagle made a couple of feints at the gulls but didn't
really look in earnest.
The first-year male King Eider was seen again and among the many Mallards
were a male Northern Pintail and a male American Wigeon. At least three
coots.
The Herring Gulls are looking very festive, but an adult Lesser Black-backed
Gull still had a lot of head-streaking.
Also present were 2 young Glaucous Gulls and at least one young Iceland.

Directions:
Take Exit 474 from Hwy.401, south on Division Street to the harbour, drive
around to the large west parkinglot.
