I went birding the Leslie Street Spit this morning:

There were 3 King Eiders. This includes the two previously reported which were
in East Cove
and an adult male in full plumage in Cell/Embayment 3. It was associating with
the other

waterfowl in that cell. I was not able to find the Eared Grebe.

I also saw at a distance a bird I am pretty sure is a Western Grebe. It was
around Marina
Bay where it opens up to the harbor.

Other birds included: 2 Green-winged Teal, 6 Canvasbacks, all 3 Merganser
species, an
American Coot, Killdeer, Double-crested Cormorants, Northern Shrike and lots of
Red-winged Blackbirds.
There were not many other passerines on the spit today aside from American
Robins and
Song Sparrows. There are still some Common Redpolls in the alders near
peninsula
A.
