On March 27, I went birding at Hillman Marsh which is about three miles east of
Leamington (take Oak Street). At the shorebird cell, observed 100+ Ring-Neck
Ducks and a few Red-Headed Ducks. Other species seen were Northern Shovelers,
Green-Winged Teal, and Hooded Merganser. I heard a Pied-Billed Grebe and heard
and saw Song-Sparrows.
At the wetland cell, saw 40+ Gadwall. Other species seen were Hooded
Merganser, Mallard, Canada Geese (of course), Ring- Neck Duck, Rudy Duck, and
Mute Swan. Flushed a large Ring-Neck Pheasant rooster out of the Phragmites .
On the same day, I proceeded to Wheatley harbour, which is a further 3 miles
east of the marsh, where I observed Red-Breasted Merganser, Lesser Scaup,
Red-Headed Duck, Hooded Merganser, and Ring-Billed Gulls.
