On Monday and Tuesday, 28 and 29 March, I experienced the impressive concentrations of Greater Snow Geese near Lancaster, Ontario, which is about 24 km east of Cornwall. I spent most of my time at a viewing area off Second Line Road at Westley Point because there were so many birds there. See photos.
http://www.jeaniron.ca/2011/snowgeese/snowgeese.htm Directions: From Toronto it is about a 4.5 hour drive to Exit 814 (Lancaster) from the 401. Here there are a gas station with convenience store, Tim Hortons and MacDonald's. From this intersection, continue across to the South Service Road and follow for about 4.7 km to 2 Line Road, Westney's Point. An open field on the right with a small cabin is private property. Brian Morin told me we have permission to view the birds from here, but NOT to drive in, so please park on the roadside. There are motels in Cornwall. Super 8 (very new) is near the 401 on Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall. I thank Brian Morin and Tyler Hoar whose recent posts inspired me to see this wildlife spectacle.
