This evening at approx. 7:15pm an adult Common Black-headed Gull flew out of the Niagara River into Lake Ontario at Niagara-on-the-lake in the company of a few 1000 Boneparte's Gulls, 200 Common Terns and 2 adult Little Gulls. These were observed over the course of about half and hour.
The bird was seen from the vicinity of the Yacht Club up river of the mouth approx. 500m. (ie/ south of the Municipal Park lookout over the river mouth). Unfortunately I don't have better directions than this at the moment.
