It was a beautiful morning here at the park with several interesting birds
seen throughout the park.

At the south tram stop a GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen by many as it fed
near the boardwalk. A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was reported just north of the
same spot. At the tip at least 8 BLACK SCOTER, 1 LONG-TAILED DUCK and the
other two species of Scoter were seen flying by as well as 2 RED-THROATED
LOON and 1 BLACK TERN.

A good bird for the park was a HAIRY WOODPECKER in one of the most southern
trees.

Also seen at the tip were 1 MERLIN, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON and 1 AMERICAN
KESTREL.

Along Post Woods a HOODED WARBLER was found. The 2 NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD were
in the Sparrow Field.

A total of 3 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERs were found throughout Woodland Nature
Trail as well as an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and another YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT.

At least 20 species of warbler were reported from Tilden’s Woods this
morning.

An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen flying over the Visitor Center parking
lot.

Yesterday the KENTUCKY WARBLER was seen throughout the afternoon by several
patient birders at Sanctuary. A CANADA WARBLER gave great looks and an
ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was seen nearby.

A bird described as a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was along the beach between
North West beach and Sanctuary.

Outside the Park:

The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER found across from Pelee Wings was seen
throughout the late afternoon yesterday but has not been reported yet today.

Shorebird numbers are increasing at Hillman Marsh and in the Onion Fields.
Several WILSON’S PHALAROPE have been seen almost daily at the marsh. 2
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERs were there with AMERICAN PIPITS.

Good Birding,

Hike Leaders: Pete, Karl, Todd, Justin, Marianne, John, Ellen, ALVAN and
