Hello ontibirders,
A quick addendum to Mark's post. The Yellow-Breasted Chat found this morning
was present in the same reported area as late as 12:30 this afternoon. A rainy
and cold day but there are warblers everywhere! I first heard and then located
a Cerulean Warbler at the southwest corner of the "bowl". The bowl and the line
of trees and small shrubs directly south.
I found a Clay-Coloured Sparrow feeding on the ground with numerous
White-Crowned Sparrows adjacent to that line of trees south of the bowl. It was
calling at first. I heard the Bzz Bzz Bzz and was easy to find the bird. In the
bowl at least 3 beautiful Canada Warblers and 3 Bay-Breasted Warblers. Two
Mourning Warblers were found at Colonel Sam this morning as well. One male, one
female. I counted 8 Cape May's and 12 Blackburnian. Numerous Blackpolls are
there and one Orange-Crowned warbler.
Not bad, 25 species and probably more good birds around. I called it a day
after 4 hours of being in the rain, Good luck!
