Hi Everyone -
I resent because the links were duplicated in plain text -- sorry; the links
below will be easier to work with.
Eastern Whip-poor-wills are now back on their breeding territories and we have
already received several observation reports from last year's Ontario
Whip-poor-will Project participants. The peak period for hearing the iconic
call of the Eastern Whip-poor-will is coming up soon, as this crepuscular
species calls most frequently on bright moonlit nights in June. This month the
full moon is on the 15th so the prime survey window for the Central Ontario
Eastern Whip-poor-will roadside surveys is June 8 through 15.
Bird Studies Canada is again seeking volunteers to provide casual reports on
Eastern Whip-poor-wills and to conduct Central Ontario Road-side Surveys. To
find out more about this project and the survey protocol visit
www.birdscanada.org/birdmon/wpwi. Includes in the guide is a map link showing
available and assigned routes throughout Ontario.
A simple online form {www.surveymonkey.com/s/VF89FYD} is now available for
reporting the location of any Eastern Whip-poor-will you hear in Ontario this
summer. To register for the roadside survey please contact Kathy Jones,
Ontario Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected].
Please let me know if you are interested in surveying by 06 June 2011.
We hope that you will join us in this exciting opportunity.
Sincerely,
Kathy Jones
Ontario Volunteer Coordinator (Canadian Lakes Loon Survey)
