During my work duties today at Dofasco in Hamilton I was witness (from above ) as the female peregrine took a young night heron at the edge of the slip between U.S. Steel (formerly Stelco ) and Arcelor Mittal Dofasco (formerly Dofasco) .I was 23 stories up looking out a cargo door as the young bird mistakenly flew past the watchful peregrine pair .The female peregrine set off in pursuit as the night heron turned to follow the slip towards Hamilton harbor . WAMMM she took the young bird in mid air and returned to her perch ,15 stories up ,on the side of #3 Coke Plant/Coal Handling with her prize .From above all I could see were feathers flying as she presumeably devoured her meal .The peregrine pair use this perch most days that I am at work .Unfortunately there is no access to other to view these wonderful hunters at this site as it is on company proprety.
