Hello Ontbirds people,

Between 10:45 and 11:00 AM today (21 July) Bob Bracken & I observed the WESTERN
MEADOWLARK still very active and VERY vocal on a fence post along Panmure
immediately southeast of the intersection at Upper Dwyer Hill Rd. In fact, it
hardly shut up the whole time we were there, giving (as described by Jeff
Skevington) many typical WEME calls as well as a consistent song-type.

DIRECTIONS: From Ottawa - Hwy 417 west to Panmure Rd. exit (#163). Go south on
Panmure to the intersection with Upper Dwyer Hill Rd. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY NO
NEED TO CROSS ANY FENCES TO GET "BETTER LOOKS"!

Earlier today, we also saw the EARED GREBE that has been present at the Embrun
sewage lagoons since at least 01 July. It is still in beautiful breeding
plumage, and was actively swimming and preening among the many Ruddy Ducks in
the southwest cell. Also present in this cell were a few shorebirds incl.
approx. 10 Lesser Yellowlegs, 6 Least Sandpipers and 1 adult Baird's Sandpiper.

DIRECTIONS: From Ottawa - Hwy 417 east to Crysler/Limoges exit (#79). Go south
on Regional Rd #5 and continue to Rte #400, then west on #400. The southwest
cell is just south of the utility building. **NOTE : THESE LAGOONS ARE SIGNED
"NO TRESPASSING", THEREFORE PLEASE EXCERCISE DISCRECTION! ...as posted by
Grodon Pringle on 02 July re: access to sewage lagoons: "The rules seem to
change as often as the folks assigned to enforce them; some are more tolerant
than others...use courtesy and common sense".
