Hey Birders, Mike and I did a pretty good tour of south-western Ontario today, looking for shorebirds and whatever else. Our first stop was at Mitchell, first thing this morning. Our highlight here was an Upland Sandpiper, initially in the first lagoon, then settling in the soccer fields, before disappearing altogether. No sign of the Golden-Plover's seen later in the morning.
We stopped at several other lagoons (namely Exeter and Tilbury) and had the previously reported species (Red-necked Phalaropes, Horned Grebe, Long-billed Dowitchers). At Erieau we had 1 first-year Lesser Black-backed Gull and at Port Burwell we had 15+ Little Gull's and 1 third-year Lesser Black-backed Gull. To see a more detailed description of our day check my blog out (http://kenburrell.blogspot.com/) Good Birding, Mike and Ken Burrell Directions: email me privately for directions/see earlier postings. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
