Hey Ontbirders. I have been watching the Ontbirds listserv avidly as I usually
do when traveling abroad and I picked up on the Buff-breasted Sandpipers being
reported which I always love to see each August.
I am in Iquitos, Peru at the moment and yesterday afternoon while birding the
waterfront (the river is out almost 1 km now in the dry season!) I encountered
a flock of approximately 200+ shorebirds (mostly Pectoral Sandpipers) and 91 of
them were Buff-breasted Sandpipers! Clearly a high count for me and thought it
would be cool to report this given that birders are still seeing this species
in Ontario - thousands of kilometers to the north!
Cheers,
