Weather: Foggy early this morning followed by heavy rain showers. The rain stopped mid-morning, but there were a few showers throughout the remainder of the day. Winds initially were out of the northeast but shifted around to the west/southwest by the end of the day. Temperatures ranged from 17-24 C. Clouds were around for most of the day, but the sun peaked through for about an hour this afternoon. Raptor Observations: A great day of migration today. Many species put in good showings, but especially impressive were Sharp-shinned Hawks, Bald Eagles, Merlin, and Osprey. As soon as there wasn't heavy rain in the sky, raptors were on the move today. Non-raptor Observations: Today's highlight was the 355 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds that zipped past. Also a good showing by Common Nighthawk (31). Lots of warblers were around today, with the majority being Magnolia, Black-throated Green, and Nashville Warblers. Claude Radley reported a Whip-poor-will calling around 8:15 this evening in the park.
