Observers: Jim McCoy

Visitors:
Three visitors today helped spot many passing birds.

Weather:
Foggy early this morning followed by heavy rain showers. The rain stopped
mid-morning, but there were a few showers throughout the remainder of the
day. Winds initially were out of the northeast but shifted around to the
west/southwest by the end of the day. Temperatures ranged from 17-24 C.
Clouds were around for most of the day, but the sun peaked through for
about an hour this afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
A great day of migration today. Many species put in good showings, but
especially impressive were Sharp-shinned Hawks, Bald Eagles, Merlin, and
Osprey. As soon as there wasn't heavy rain in the sky, raptors were on the
move today.

Non-raptor Observations:
Today's highlight was the 355 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds that zipped past.
Also a good showing by Common Nighthawk (31). Lots of warblers were around
today, with the majority being Magnolia, Black-throated Green, and
Nashville Warblers. Claude Radley reported a Whip-poor-will calling around
8:15 this evening in the park.
