Visitors:
Some visitors today including Jack and Anamae Balfour (London) and Kirk
and Kathy Mitchell.
Weather:
A better day than had been predicted with the rain holding off and lots of
cloud cover for the day. Temp ranged from 17C to 22C and the winds were
light all day from the NE then swinging to SE and S. Not the best
visibility for the first few hours with fog and haze...then better for the
afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
A really great flight for this early in September with a total of 610
raptors of 7 different species including... Sharpies (447), Kesterls(83),
Harriers (10), Ospreys (9), Bald Eagles (4) and Cooper's Hawk (2). Another
small flight of Broadwings (55) was also observed...most right around
midday which is typical for our buteo species.
Non-raptor Observations:
Some passerines were also noted....Chiney Swifts, BC chicaldees,
Catbirds,Tree Swallows, RT hummingbirds, edar Waxwings, Great Blue Heron
(5), Green Heron (1), Common Loon (3) and common nighthawk (2). Also quite
a few Monarchs were observed throughout the day.
