Hi Ontbirders:

Yesterday afternoon, I went west from Ottawa along the Ottawa River looking for
the Pomerine and Parasitic Jaegers reported there in the morning. I saw no
jaegers, but others reported a Parasitic. At Shirley's Bay, there was a good
showing of raptors, including two Bald Eagles, an American Kestrel, a Northern
Harrier and a Cooper's Hawk. There were few shorebirds, but one Baird's
Sandpiper did put in an appearance, as well as a Green Heron and a total of 18
Great Egrets. In the woods at the base of the Dyke, there was also a Pileated
Woodpecker drinking for several minutes from a puddle at about 5 metres from me.

At Ottawa Beach, the site for the Pomerine Jaeger in the morning, two Peregrine
Falcons put on a good show sweeping over a few of us standing on the beach.

Good birding
