Hello birders,

We just (10:20 am) had the Snowy Egret flyover near the location it was seen
yesterday. We first had it flying up river near Bagnall and then lost it when
it apparently landed along the river. After following Brett Groves' directions
from yesterday we picked it up again as it was flying upriver with a Great
Egret near 5995 Grande River line between Bagnall and Prairie Siding. The two
egrets continued overland in a northeasterly direction. Ken managed one quick
photo of it as it was flying by that he will post on his blog later today.

Good birding,

Subject: [Ontbirds] Snowy Egret - Prairie Siding, Chatham-Kent

Hi All,

While out on the OFO tour to St. Clair National Wildlife Area the group was
able to get excellent views of a Snowy Egret along the Thames River (around
9:00 this morning). The bird flushed from the north side of the river and
flew further downstream to sit on some dead trees with a Great Blue Heron
and Double Crested Cormorant. While we watched a Great Egret came into view
on the same trees as the Snowy.

Other good birds for the day at SCNWA included 3 Bald Eagles, several
Northern Harriers, an American Bittern flying, and most of the puddle ducks.
The road along the south boundary also had several species of warblers,
Blue-headed, Red-eyed and Warbling Vireos, Wood Peewee, Phoebe,

Directions for the Egret – From Prairie Siding go east along the river road
to the bridge over the Thames River, cross over and take the first road to
the left (west) follow this road along the river up onto the river dyke for
1 ½ km.

Brett Groves
