Thanks to Colin, Jim, Keith and Ernie for getting a count done today before being driven off the knoll and back to their vehicles! Weather: Not much of a day weatherwise....very low ceiling for cloud cover...and around about mid-morning a serious storm cell approached the site propmpting the counters to abandon the count. On their way out a lightning bolt struck VERY close to the road. The humidity was very high obviously and winds were not the best from the SE. Raptor Observations: Even with the rotten weather there were birds on the move...and the counters got a total of 99 for the morning. The flight level was very low...likely never higher than 300-400 feet. Species seen today included TV's (26) , Osprey (2), Harriers (10) Sharpies (31), Kestrels (29) and a lone Merlin. Non-raptor Observations: Thanks to Ernie for today's "Other" report....including Wood Ducks, Ring-bill and Herring Gulls, Rock Pigeons, Mourning Doves, RT Hummingbirds, Hairy, Downy , Pileated Woodpeckers, E. Wood Pewee, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Cedar Waxwings, Red-eyed Vireo, Chickadees, Am. Robins, Am. Crow, Blue Jays (sev. hundreds at least), Magnolia, Wilsons, B.T.
