Visitors:
Many visitors today. Hawk Festival attendees enjoyed the migrating hawks
throughout the day. Many budding ornithologists from the University of
Windsor also were able to check out what Holiday Beach was all about.
Weather:
Mostly clear in the morning and late afternoon, with heavy clouds in
between. Temperatures 10-19 C. Winds initially were out of the northwest,
but eventually turned to the south.
Raptor Observations:
A very nice day of migration. A steady stream of Sharp-shinned Hawks and
American Kestrels made for a very entertaining day. A few Broad-winged
Hawks moved through, along with a smattering of the other expected species.
A Merlin buzzed the tower mid-afternoon.
Non-raptor Observations:
Fairly slow today for non-raptors. Highlights were an adult Red-headed
Woodpecker and 10830 Blue Jays.
