This afternoon we walked out to the gravel bar on the KFN property at the east
end of Amherst Island. We saw the following shorebirds:
3 American Golden-Plovers
50+ Black-bellied Plovers
2 Semipalmated Plovers
20+ Dunlin
20+ Sanderlings

Most of the shorebirds took flight when 70+ Bonaparte's Gulls landed, but they
soon returned.

Directions:

Amherst Island is accessed by ferry from Millhaven, leaving every hour on the
half hour. The charge is now $9 per vehicle. The Kingston Field Naturalists'
property on the east end of Amherst Island is only open to KFN members and
their guests due to liability concerns.
