Bill Smith and I birded Wards Island again to-day up to the firehall including Algonquin Island. The activity was not as frantic as on Wednesday however we did see 52 species between 8AM and 2PM. The weather was overcast to partly sunny and windy from the northwest. Other than the garden variety some of the birds we saw were: Bald Eagle - Osprey(2) - Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawks - American Kestrel - Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - Brown Creeper - Winter Wren - Gray-cheeked and Swainson's Thrush and 15 species of Warbler including Northern Parula - Orange-crowned - Blackburnian - Blackpole and a family group of Wilson's. As was the case on Wednesday there were large numbers of Yellow-rumped Warblers and R.C. Kinglets passing through which slowed us down. Sparrows should start to move through soon.
