A partial list: Wayne Wilson, Joan Tisdale, Darlene Friedman, Mark Wloch, Chris Skowronski, Rachel Schwartz, Will Weber, Jerry Jourdan, Joerg Haehner, Lukas Klijnowski, Yvonne Bernard, Stevie Kuroda, Bruce Watson, Neil Waldman Jessica and Norene Elledge, Susan Rofe, Chris Chamberlin, Beth Stallman, Sol and Ron and Gloria. Weather: Clear and a bit hazy to start, it remained so for most of the day up until the last two hours when the clouds began to roll in. The wind out of the north and northwest was strong but not nearly as strong as the last two days. Raptor Observations: Lots and lots of turkey vultures on the move all day. In every hour except the first, at least a hundred vultures were counted with peak movement occurring during the 3 o'clock hour. Sharpies were also steady throughout the day. And we set new season-high daily totals for red-tailed and cooper's hawks. Non-raptor Observations: Three more greater yellowlegs were sighted today. A flock of nine rusty blackbirds passed overhead early in the morning. Skeins of Canada geese could again be seen with increasing frequency. And blue jay migration was very evident with more than 3,000 seen, mostly during the morning hours. Predictions: No rain in the forecast for the first time in a long time. It should be mostly clear with some cloudiness in the afternoon. And this cold front isn't going to be around much longer as temperatures are going to reach the mid 60s by tomorrow afternoon. Winds out of the north will be in the 10-15 mph range for most of the day. It's likely tomorrow will be another very good day for us. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jonathan Stein ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org Site Description: The primary site used by the Detroit River Hawk Watch (a joint venture of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and it's Friends group, the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
