Hey Birders,

Brandon Holden and I did a hawk watch at Seacliffe today, from 10:45-3:15. We
had 6,558 birds, predominantly Turkey Vultures.

Highlights:

Golden Eagle - 1 juv. seen at 12:20pm
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2 adults, seen separately in the afternoon.

Turkey Vulture - 5,079
Bald Eagle - 10
Northern Harrier - 19
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 741
Cooper's Hawk - 30
Broad-winged Hawk - 432
Red-tailed Hawk - 45
American Kestrel - 199

Other interesting birds seen migrating;
Common Nighthawk - 5
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 3
Chimney Swift - 17

On our way home, we stopped at Wheatley Harbour. A fair number of gulls were on
the beach, including 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull's (first-year and an adult).
Far offshore a distant Jaeger sp. was seen briefly.

Directions: From the 401, exit at Comber, take Road 77, south to Leamington.
Going through Leamington, go west on Seacliffe Driv (road 20) and take this a
short distance. I believe the laneway is at 158 Seacliffe Drive. Essentially
anywhere along the lakeshore will be good.

Good Birding!
