Hi Ontbirds people,

During a hour's visit to the mud flats at the east end of Andrew Haydon Park
around noon today (14 October), Bob Bracken and I noted that a flock of 12
Hudsonian Godwits were still present, standing up to their bellies in water
among the Canada Geese and common puddle ducks. Also approx. 30 Black-bellied
Plovers and 5 smaller unidentifiable (due to distance) shorebirds, likely
Dunlin or White-rumped Sandpipers as there have been many around.

DIRECTIONS:

>From Hwy 417 take the Pinecrest exit (#127), proceed north, then turn left
>(west) onto Carling Ave. and continue to Andrew Haydon Park (the sign says
>"water playgound" :-) Park in the public lot and walk out to the the mud flats
>along the river. The terrain is easy to traverse, and it is always considerate
>(to wildlife and people) not to approach the birds too closely.
