Saturday Oct 29th we had 3 bluebirds checking out the bluebird nest boxes on our farm - flitting back and forth between fence, field and box - poking their heads into the boxes, softly calling to each other and feeding. Lasted for about an hour. We had not see bluebirds on the property since early August. If I didn't know better and was not seeing drab plumage, I would have said it was late April and they were scoping out nesting territory. Could they have been planning ahead for 2012?
