Weather: Very nice day today...with temps from 14C to 16C....though at times it felt cooler with the wind. The wind was moderate from the SW...and cloud cover started at about 60% and then burned off leaving mostly bright sunny skies. Raptor Observations: A smaller flight today with a total of 80 birds...the highlight definitely 4 (very low flying) Golden Eagles...one which almost certainly was an adult bird. Observers had lots of time to study these birds as they took their time heading westward and out of sight. The bulk of the flight was TVs (55)...and a few Redtails (8) and a lone Red-shoulder...Harrier (2), Sharpies (7) and Cooper's (3). Non-raptor Observations: A lot of Cedar Waxwings along the roadway, Killdeer (20+), a Kingfisher and 7 loons headed south. Very few passerines were in the air today. Predictions: Thursday is looking promising with predicted light N and NE winds...cloudy with some sunny breaks. Friday looks even better with lots of sunshine and moderate NE winds. Hopefully, there's still a couple of good buteo flights yet to come...and even some of the adult Golden Eagles. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
