Good day This morning I saw and photographed a Greater White Fronted Goose in the Western pond at Andrew Hayden Park. The bird was among many Canada Geese and followed a large group out and into the water. I watched the bird from approx 09:45 A.M. to 10:25 A.M. when a pedestrian coming over the hill from the upper parking lot spooked the Canadas and the GWFG followed into the centre of the pond. I returned from Ottawa Beach an hour later and the pond was pretty much empty ....Photos of the goose can be found at the link below...more photos will be added shortly ( previous and next buttons) Also seen was a partially leucistic Canada Goose on the river as well as a GreaterBlack Backed Gull and Herring Gulls at Ottawa beach ( parking lot east of Andrew Hayden) as well as a few Gulls I have yet to ID...Many Common Goldeneye could be seen on the river as well.
Thanks to Wilson Hum for help with the ID http://www.pbase.com/photofair/image/139730285 Gary Fairhead _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
