This morning Mark Peck and I birded from Niagara on the Lake upstream to Adam
Beck
Razorbill

7:40-8:20am it took a few minutes to find it in the upwelling and rip current
in the mid river just north of Queen's Royal Park. It spent 1/2 its time
preening in the morning sun allowing for stunning views.

Massive Red-throated Loon movement
While we were watching the Razorbill, we noticed a steady stream of
Red-throated Loons moving westward in Lake Ontario. Once we started to pay more
attention a total of 811 Red-throated Loons were counted (all moving westward)
in less than 30mins.

Other species seen included 12+ Horned Grebes, American Coot, Ring-necked Duck,
White-winged Scoter, Common and Red-throated loons on the river

Black Vulture
The vultures left their roost by 9am. After 45 mins of scanning every Turkey
Vulture which was dispersing from that area. One Black Vulture flew south
toward the Queenston-lewiston Bridge and the turned northwest and not seen
again.

Directions (from previous posts):
>From the QEW, travel east towards Niagara. Take the 38B Glendale/Regional Road
>89 exit, and turn right on Taylor Road. Head west, parallel to the highway,
>until Taylor Road turns right and
crosses the highway. At this point it is called Niagara Stone Road. Follow
Niagara Stone Road into Niagara-on-the-lake. At this point, the road will now
be known as Mississauga Street.
Turn right on Queen St, and then the third left onto Victoria Street. Turn
right onto Front Street and the Queen's Royal Park will be on the left. This
spot has a pretty good view of the river mouth.

Black Vulture: Look along the escarpment along the area just north of the
Queenston-Lewiston Bridge.
