After almost a week into the winter season, we are up to 161 species on the
Ontario winter list. The relatively mild weather has continued and most of
southern Ontario has had only a small amount of snow (if any!), so many
lingering species are being reported. I have sent the list to Blake Maybank and
he will post the results on the website soon. A link to the webpage:

Some highlights so far:
American White Pelican
Cattle Egret
Black Vulture
Osprey
American Golden-Plover
White-rumped Sandpiper
Franklin's Gull
Slaty-backed Gull
Razorbill
Swainson's Thrush
Northern Parula
Of course, we are missing quite a few easy species, of which most we should
pick up. They include:
Brant
Barrow's Goldeneye
Gray Partridge
Gyrfalcon
Virginia Rail
Dunlin
Wilson's Snipe
Northern Hawk, Great Gray, Long-eared, Boreal, and Northern Saw-whet Owls
Red-headed Woodpecker
Black-billed Magpie
Eastern Phoebe
Black-billed Magpie
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Eastern Towhee
Chipping, Field, and Vesper Sparrows
Brewer's Blackbird
Red Crossbill
Hoary Redpoll
Additionally, only three species of warblers (Yellow-rumped, C. Yellowthroat,
and Northern Parula) have been reported.
