Hey Folks, First and foremost, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!!! Certainly one of the warmest Christmases I remember.
I was bumming around Toronto area and noted some birds that might interest Winter Listers. At the Leslie Spit yesterday, there were a pair of TUNDRA SWANS near the bridge. There are many HOODED MERGANSERS wintering there as well. A first-cycle GLAUCOUS GULL was sitting in a big flock of gulls near the bridge as well. At Colonel Sam Smith Park today, in the little pond with the small boardwalk, there was a real nice drake NORTHERN PINTAIL as well as a GREEN-WINGED TEAL. In the marina, there were multiple RED-NECKED GREBES and a single HORNED GREBE. Nothing exceptionally exciting, but certainly noteworthy! Cheers, Lev Frid Directions: The Leslie Spit is also known as Tommy Thompson park and is at the southernmost end of Leslie Street off Lakeshore Boulevard in TO. Sam Smith Park is south of Kipling and Lakeshore Boulevard. There's parking in both places. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
