A Great Blue Heron was found today at the pond just south of Coral Gable Drive, near the Humber River. Other birds in the general area included a Belted Kingfisher and a Brown Creeper by the river, 21 Cedar Waxwings along the bike path to the north of the pond, 2 Northern Mockingbirds, 17 Robins, a Sharp-shinned Hawk, and 2 Black Ducks in the small area of open water left at the north end of the pond. The heron was perched in a tree on the south side of the pond. Coral Gable Drive is the first street running west off Weston Road north of Sheppard Avenue. Park on Coral Gable Drive and walk in a short way on the bike path. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
