The annual waterfowl congregation in the area between Peche Island and Lakeview
Park Marina in Windsor has begun.

Over the past week I've had 70+ Bonaparte's Gull, 1 Herring Gull, ten or so
Bufflehead, 20+ Canvasback, 4 to 6 Common
Goldeneye, a dozen or more Mute Swan, 3 sp. of merganser.

Mergansers dominated today with scores of Red-breasted, dozens of Common coming
close to the Windsor side and into the
marina proper, and a few Hooded that stayed closer to the shore of the island.

After seeing only Mute Swans for weeks, today I noticed swans with black bills
for the first time, which I'll assume are
Tundra. There were many more Canvasback today, but no sign of the Bonaparte's
Gull.

I'll continue to keep an eye on these waters and would appreciate other birders
posting if they notice the
arrival of some of the other annual visitors or any interesting vagrants in the
mix!

Good birding,

Kelly Morrissey

Lakeview Park Marina is at the foot of Riverdale Ave where it ends at 9200
Riverside Drive East in Windsor, just 10 km
east of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Follow Riverside Drive until you see the
66-foot tall white and red lighthouse on
the corner. The marina is on the left.

>From the 401, take Manning Road/County Road 19, exit number 21. Turn right
>(north) on Manning Road/County Road 19 to
Riverside Drive, approximately 9.5 km. Turn left (west) on Riverside Drive and
go approximately 5 km. until you see
the old Pelee Passage lighthouse. Turn right into the marina.
